Sustainable Investing: Making a Positive Impact with Common Sense
A sustainable strategy considers people, nature and financial realities. We select tomorrow’s winners that bring these three elements together. Here’s how we do it.
This is how we make a lasting impact
DoubleDividend invests in companies that demonstrably contribute to a better world. Our portfolios are structured around three pressing issues: climate change, ecological resilience and social well-being.
Climate

Lower CO₂ emissions than the market average
The DD Equity Fund’s equity portfolio emits significantly less CO₂ than the broader market. While the BBG World Index generates an average of 390 metric tons of CO₂ per million euros of invested capital, our portfolio emits only 70 metric tons. That represents a reduction of no less than 78% in CO₂ emissions. By investing specifically in sustainable and future-proof companies, we are making a measurable difference together.

This is how we align sustainability with our investment philosophy
Quality and sustainability are central to building a resilient portfolio focused on the long term. In our view, sustainable companies and themes not only deliver social value but also contribute to a healthy risk-return profile. Companies selected for the DD Funds must meet the DoubleDividend “five-point criteria.”

Engaged Shareholder Participation

For DoubleDividend, active shareholder engagement is a key component of the investment process. What this means for DoubleDividend is outlined below.
DoubleDividend acts as an engaged shareholder. Responsible behavior means not only that DoubleDividend casts an informed vote at shareholder meetings, but also that the companies in which it invests are continuously monitored to ensure that their actual results align with their announced forecasts and objectives.
Which companies do we exclude?
Below are the criteria we use to exclude companies. Our approach is not to be too strict in this regard, as we believe it would be unwise to limit the investment universe too much. In fact, we prefer to invest in companies that contribute to positive change, even if they haven’t quite gotten there yet. We exclude a company if it:
Grossly violates one or more of the principles of the UN Global Compact. The ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact serve as guidelines for good governance in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment and anti-corruption.
Is involved in a specific, socially controversial business activity that is harmful to people or the environment, such as controversial weapons, gambling, pornography or tobacco.
It is on a sanctions list issued by the UN Security Council and/or the European Union.
Sustainability information (SFDR)
Because “sustainable” has become a buzzword, we welcome SFDR laws and regulations that require companies—as well as investors—to be more transparent about their actual impact on environmental and social issues. This helps prevent “greenwashing.” After all, the primary goal is to make a positive contribution to addressing major global challenges such as climate change, health, and poverty.
