Our Impact on the Climate, Ecosystems and Well-Being

DoubleDividend invests in companies that demonstrably contribute to a better world. Our portfolios are built around three key themes: climate change, ecosystems and social well-being, supplemented by strict governance requirements. Integrating governance is crucial, because poor governance can lead to risky investments, even if a company has a positive impact on, for example, the climate. Using an analysis method we developed in-house, we measure sustainability impact in a way that goes beyond standard ESG scores.

Our Own ESG Analysis

While many asset managers rely on external ESG scores, DoubleDividend has opted for its own rating system:

  • Climate: CO₂ emissions (Scopes 1, 2, and 3), energy consumption, reduction targets, renewable energy
  • Ecosystems: biodiversity, water use, waste management, circular economies, supply chains, and/or use of materials
  • Well-being: health care, labor rights, human rights, and inclusivity
  • Governance: transparency, oversight, diversity in senior leadership, and ethical management

Each company receives a score from 1 to 10 for each theme. Only companies that meet the minimum score on all four themes are eligible for inclusion in our DD Funds.

Our ESG analysis combines external data sources with our own assessment and annual updates. We exclude companies that do not meet our minimum standards or act in a manner inconsistent with our convictions. Read more about our approach to exclusions here.

In practice: What does this look like?

Technology as a Catalyst for Sustainability

Many of our core holdings are technology companies. They combine strong financial performance with structural solutions to sustainability challenges. Examples include:

  • Microsoft, which invests in large-scale renewable energy
  • Amazon, which enables the sustainability of digital infrastructure
  • Pure Storage and Nutanix, which promote energy savings and efficient data usage

Technology companies consistently make the largest contribution to both returns and CO₂ reductions in our portfolios. Here, innovation goes hand in hand with impact.

Why This Matters

  • Demonstrably contributing to social progress
  • Lower risks and higher quality in the long term
  • Combining Returns with Purpose and Conviction

For us, sustainable investing isn’t an idealistic goal, but a practical expression of what we consider to be “quality.” This is how we build future-proof wealth—for you and the world of tomorrow.
